Bought a new laptop, intel i5 with 1gb dedicated graphic card. I need game ideas. Already have Amnesia and Borderlands.

I still think Team Fortress 2 is the best PC game that exists, but you need to be sufficiently competitive to get past "agh I'm not good at this and don't know what's going on" without being so competitive that the sloth and incompetence of your team-mates makes you grind your teeth once you do know what's going on.

Also everybody needs Minecraft. Dig dig dig dig dig build castle run out of rock for the main tower dig some more, ooh diamonds, make diamond pickaxe, digdigdigdigdigdigLAVA

I'll second Minecraft. Also, You'll want L4D/L4D2. After that? Tell us what genres you like. :)

Second Civ 5. Hell, get Civ 4 (all the expansions together can't be that expensive at this point). It's in some ways a better game than 5.

Torchlight is super fun one-player Diablo clone where everything blows up when you hit it.

All the other stuff I play is ancient games that require emulators :)
