It's definitely time for Arnold to learn how to perform different household tasks. Too bad he didn't practice a bit earlier on!

The celebration of Nikolaus seems interesting. We don't have it here, but we have Lucia celebrations instead, next week.

absolutly! but i think that is a generation problem - all the man in that age had never to do the household themselves, as EVERYTHING was done by their woman.

I like the deco you made. It's very creative and pretty.
The Nikolaus tradition seems very special for the kids.

they are every year very excited because of nikolaus - it's told, he was a bishop born in turkey, who was helping the poor people - so it is an nice story behind of everything

Congrats getting back to booklets again!

I saw the pics of this on Facebook and how cool! Who was St. Nikoluas was there! Is it custom to give gifts before the 25th? Or were you just in the mood to celebrate. Here, it's the 25th but as I'm half Spanish, my mom's family celebrates every 24th as well!

Oh wow, those are big changes in your family....that's what being single brings: doing everything yourself!

Nikolaus was a Bishop in Turkey who helped the poor people - that is the story behind it. and he comes to visit the children on december 6th and is bringing some little gifts, nuts, apples & oranges.

and we celebrate christmas in the evening of december 24th - with the big presents :)

has my letter already arrived?

we also have Sint Nicolaas here, i thought it was a typical Dutch tradition, but apparently the way you celebrate it is quite similar to what we have! Do you also have those helper-guys? (we call them Zwarte Piet)

yes we have! he's called knecht ruprecht - wearing dark/black clothes. in other parts of austria, he's pretty wild, with wild masks - but not here, we have a nice one :)
