School

School is absolutely amazing but it takes up all of my time. I'm not sure if that's even a bad thing? I am obsessed with school like I was previously obsessed with writing. I don't know how much I will actually write in here, but suffice it to say, I am having the time of my life! It's like the world's biggest and most expensive slumber party. ( Read more... )

Yoga shouldn't make you sore- you might be pushing yourself which is defeatist in yoga. Use a strap and some wedges and props, and go gently.

I am also walking two or three blocks (it's a fair distance) to school every day. I'll spare you the details about it being uphill and on the snow, since it didn't happen. ;)

I *will* say that my left sandal strap broke its stitches during the hike (and it was a Rockport sandal at that) and I could only thank God it wasn't my book bag straps instead!

Anyway, I'm getting off topic.

Back to said topic.

I think I'm sore more because I am stretching out muscles I have never even been aware of, much less used. We did a couple of "Salutions to the Sun", and having to hold our positions as we listened to the instructor tell us what part of our body we should feel burn as well as probably not inhaling or exhaling at the appropriate times (if at all) had something to do with it. Or it was the combined yoga and the half mile/mile walk. (I have no idea how far it is, but like I said, it was 2-3 blocks away.)

How long have you been doing yoga? How do you feel about "hot yoga"? That sounded very interesting to me.

I've been doing yoga since 2001- and Ashtanga Yoga for the last three years. It has been the best thing I've done for my body and health- and with the most dramatic results. Bizarre since it is never strenuous, but true nonetheless.

Ashtanga Yoga is excellent, and there is very little need for any other cardio exercise if you are practicing Ashtanga (hot yoga)- unless of course you wish to do more cardio. I started out with learning all the sun salutations etc of a beginner for a year (and got the breathing and correct effects down) before doing Ashtanga. But that was my own personal...

I LOVE yoga. I've been doing it off and on since I was a teen. MMM! My stepbrother's about to get his massage therapy license, he's a drummer in a rock band, AND he's a hip-hop dj. Talk about breaking down barriers. :P

Ever try doing yoga in jeans? LOL! Well, that was my first experience. I forgot that we were to do yoga that day in class, and well...LOL! It made for a memorable time, let me tell you!
