In the Heights was the best Broadway show I've seen since RENT. If you're looking to see a show on Broadway, see that one. For realz.

If you're into the Dominicans of NY and NJ you might really like the book The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. I'm a big fan.

I read it a few months ago, and am also a fan. In the Heights doesn't come close as far as covering Dominican culture/history with that kind of intensity--but it's a really beautiful show. I'm sure it'll get some criticism for having some VERY light-skinned Latinos in the lead roles.

I've listened to the music, which is great, it's good to know it's worth seeing.

Have you read Diaz's book of short stories? I'm interested in it, but have heard mixed reviews.
