Oh LJ, it has been quite a while since I unloaded one of my political rants onto you....

Fahrenheit 9/11 - Propaganda film containing inaccuracies, assumptions and lies, but marketed as a "documentary". Drives conservatives nuts, people get angry, but life goes on ( Read more... )

while I fundamentally agree with you about both parties being bastions of corruption, the inherent difference is the fact that Farenheit 9/11 was a movie, which consumers paid to see and had to go out of their waqy to view, while the path to 9/11 is being aired by network television which is probably piped into about 99% of American homes. Also, everyone knew beforehand that Farenheit 9/11 was going to be biased, while The Path to 9/11 is supposedly based on the facts of the 9/11 Commission, which it clearly is not ( ... )

as a quick edit: I know it will be easy tor espond with "no one is forcing anyone to watch the show" and that is true, but since it is about 9/11 and it is the 5 year anniversary, people all across America will be watching it and most of thoese viewers do not have the political insight and knowledge to know the actual facts about the Clinton administrations dealings with bin Laden, therefore they will believe what they see. The indoctrination of ideas from this show will be no different from anything else on tv: so long as it is being broadcast, the sheep will believe it.

But at least the producers are admitting it is a docu drama. It was never called a documenatry. I still run into aquantainces that spout off crap they learned from Moore's film as gospel. Your theory is not limmited to television. The sheep visit movie theaters.

you're right, the sheep still do go to movies, but lets look at it this way...farenheit 9/11 grossed about 200 million dollars, so if the avg. ticket price is $10, then we can say that about 20 million people saw the movie. Now compare that to the fact that almost 110 million people own tv's, which assumingly all have network tv capabilities. That's 36% of Americans who have the chance to watch this show whereas only 15% saw Farenheit 9/11. That's quite a difference in the amount of people who could possibly tune in to The Path to 9/11 from people who actually saw Farneheit 9/11. To say the least, The Path to 9/11 is appealing to a much higher amount of the population, therefore misinforming them.

And yes, I did actually spend time looking up these statistics, sadly enough.
