'Twas the night before the deadline...
Hello fellow r/s small gifters!
The deadline is barreling down upon us. Many of you have already stuffed your gifts into the r/s stocking, so THANK YOU.
For some r/s fun while you’re waiting to open the gifts, please check out our count down posts.
For some less-fun modly details, the following is brought to you by everyone’s favourite cliché, bookish!fussy!remus:
1) The deadline is November 30th at midnight your time. Remus would like to register that as the deadline conceivably spans a full twenty-four hours, it is not really a deadline at all, and we should have picked a different word.
Be that as it may, if you need an extension, let us know ASAP. If you are beginning to think you can’t finish at all, let us know sooner than that. Shut up, Remus.
2) Beta, beta, beta, beta. Remember you must have your fic (if you’re a writer) beta’d. We would rather you ask for an extension to have a proper beta job done than turn it in without one. If you are having trouble finding someone, let us know.
3) Please check the submission guidelines before posting to the queue. Remember that headers should contain gift type (fic or art), title, and recipient in the subject line. If there are any formatting issues, we will reject it and let you know why. After all, that’s what guidelines are for: to guide. If no one follows them, they are not actually any sort of a guide.
As much as it causes Remus pain, we can’t just fix it ourselves. He would like you to remember that everyone makes mistakes. It is not your fault.
If you haven’t heard from us by December 1st, you can assume that your gift is in the queue and is Remus-approved.
4) Several of you frightening over-achievers have claimed (and in some alarming cases, finished) second gifts. We’ll post all of the first gifts first, because if the seconds come before the firsts, everything will be out of order, and there are ways these things must be done.
If you’ve finished a second gift: 1) I am a little frightened of you; 2) You will have to wait until your first gift has been posted to the community before submitting your second gift to the queue. See above notes about order.
5) Icons. We need some new rs_small_gifts icons. Anyone out there a wiz at photoshop? It would be fabulous if some of you would make some icons for the community. Post them in the comments to this post. We’ll put any results in a separate post for the taking to be used for posting here, at your journals, and to spread the joy throughout the month.
Finally, posting begins on December 1st! Sirius says, be polite and always remember to thank the one who stuffs your stocking. Remus can thank him later.
Remus says that “finally” does not complete a numbered list and swats Sirius on the back of the head.
(Seriously, please do not forget to acknowledge your gift.)
