I understand what you mean about not feeling as excited as you should about graduation, honors, home, and other such things. People often ask me how much I'm looking forward to Oxford. Well, of course I'm anticipating it with delight, but it doesn't constantly occupy my thoughts. I have a life to live now, and I can't ignore that for what will happen in three months.

Maybe that's not entirely the same experience as yours, but I think there is a similarity.

I hope that you don't identify your manic/depressive journaling tendency as a reason not to post on livejournal! Otherwise, where will I find my weekly share of Erin?

You have struck a chord with me here. I can honestly say I am in the same boat on the excitedness deal. I should be excited because its summer, I am not; should be excited because I got an A in World War II, I am not; and should've been excited when I went to Italy, but I wasn't. Don't really have any wisdom to impart here, but I don't see it as a bad thing that I don't jump around the room dancing and screaming because of some supposedly exciting situation or stimulus (I just really felt like using the word stimulus). Maybe we are in a state of perpetual excitedness caused by the mysteries of life ( ... )
