Thanks for posting this - always wanted to read the whole thing. Interesting, although not surprising, how certain he is that acting is the thing for him, even at the age of 16. He sounds much like he does now in interviews. He obviously skipped to 'grown up' very quickly :0) Apparently has a soft spot for The Music Man as well!

aww. I loved reading all those praises for him even when he was so young.
And he took the name from his brother, I didn't know about that. (I wonder also why)

I believe the story I heard is that there already was an actor named Robert Leonard in the union. Presumably he thought his real middle name (Lawrence) was a mouthful, but that's just a guess.
