I very nearly didn't continue reading this when I realised when it was set, but I am glad that I did, even if I do have a tear in my eye now. ;)
It's lovely. I thought you chose the memories, the emotions, so very well in this; just the right ones to convey a very real poignancy that is as warming as it is sad. And it is that - the idea of Andromeda setting her birthday dinner table for her absent family is heartbreaking. I thought it was very clever how you used Teddy - he's not old enough to know what Andromeda is going through, of course, or old enough to provide her with all the comfort she needs, so she indulges herself in memories of the past, but he is there to provide a positive reason to go on, and is someone to love as she does.
