I am sure that the mud has sucked up a few pairs of footwear over the years. It's the kind of gooey mud that actually takes scrubbing to remove. It doesn't just come off with water on its own. I ended up in deeper than my ankles twice - once with one foot one day and one the next day with the other foot - just to keep the goo symmetrical.

Yep, totally solo. Met a few folks hiking on the trail, but I did it alone.

I kept my shoes on most of the time, but not all the time :)
