Pinch runner as baseball position

I recently went to back to back Mets games, despite little interest in professional sports. During the game, I thought that it might be useful to have a "designated runner", a player whose sole purpose is to pinch run in critical situations. What is even better is when you have an original idea and someone has already brought it to market...

For example, the solar powered car ventilation fan (thought up when I was a kid), and an inflatable mylar reflector ring for portable solar cooking.

I think the trick is to just keep thinking them up, and hoping something is patentable and/or profitable.

Stealing 33 bases in 100 games is actually successful, though.

But he got caught stealing 17 times. I don't have the energy to find out what a good stolen base percentage is, but ~66% doesn't seem very hot.

I'm late, but Moneyball said that 75% is about break even on the states for the most part. So ya.
