The End of Another Hiatus

Sooo, having realized that, while gaining mad skillz in report writing I have started to fail epically at creative writing, I'm coming back to LJ to help practice my craft/keep up with ya'll.

So! I've been ok! Besides being sick and all. However, Juli, being the crazy lady that she is, probably saved my life by introducing me to my latest drug craze ( Read more... )

Just as a quick comment: the fanfic you refer to was intentionally cheesy, something I wrote in an afternoon for a few fans that had asked me for it. Not that I'm apologizing for it, as it was a fun lark, but I hope you might enjoy the book as a more serious effort... or maybe not. Either way, I hope you eventually enjoy the game. Cheers! -- DG

Oh wow...lol! You certainly found that quick! I must admit I was shocked that you found this, but it serves me right! From the snippets I got on the forums with the swooning and all (can you tell that I'm a lurker?) it seemed like the book might contain much cheese, but then again I was always intending to read it, despite my anti-cheese stance. I'm not back peddling just cause I was called out, I'm just a lore nerd (My Warcraft prequel books are my most carefully hidden 'dirty little secrets') but decided to read the book after I played the game because of all my speculations over Loghain and deciding that the surprise would be worth it. I never did get that mythical, pristine, first run through with BGII, so I figured I'd try and get it with Dragon Age ( ... )

Hey, no worries -- I've no illusions that my book is for everyone (never mind our games). If you read it after the game, that's cool, but it's designed to be read before just as easily (no spoilers for the game). If you don't read it, that's fine too.

Came across your post by complete accident this afternoon while googling something else. Heh. Sorry to startle you. Anyhow, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the game once you play. :) --- DG

Hmm, really? See, the whole Ostagar situation and Loghain has me the most excited to play the game right now. Since the prequel book focuses on Marick and Loghain, I was afraid that I might get more insights into his motivations/how the Ostagar "event" (for lack of a better word) will end. But if the book won't give me any idea of what is coming beyond my wild speculations, then I'll probably read it before as I was originally intending to.

Tee-hee, I stole David Gaider for my own personal Q&A session! I should have done this ages ago...
