In retrospect, it's almost not quite applicable to compare "eating around something" to "drinking around something". My comedy fails. :(

Sparta was actually one of the few ancient Greek communities that wasn't pederastic.

From what Wikipedia tells me, they definitely practiced pederasty: boys were expected to take on older lovers. However, whether or not this was chaste pederasty is inconclusive. None of the sources seem to be online. I do see something about an island colonized by Sparta with inscriptions saying quite literally "Krimon fucked Amotion here," where x and y are male names, and Athenian comedy routines about the Spartans as boy-lovers.

They actually did throw the messengers in the well in the real story. They also did yell "Persians, come and get them!" (Molon Labe) to the persians. That's now the greek army's motto.

And I'm not actually smart, I just read it on wikipedia.
