It's rainy and nasty out, but I'm feeling good. I'm glad, because that wasn't the case last night. I don't know what the deal is, but I've been struggling to find joy a bit lately ( Read more... )

I totally understand your devotion to your beliefs-but don't beat yourself up so much. You're an amazing person, Pete and I'm always a phone call away if you need to talk.

I'm not beating myself up--I'm responding to myself in tune with Scripture. The Bible teaches that since the fall of Adam and Eve that sin entered the world and corrupted mankind so that we were born with sin--no man is born good, and that we are depraved of good within us. It is only through Jesus Christ's sinless life and death on the cross that I am able to be righteous before God--because Christ transferred his own righteousness to his people. His death on the cross was subsitutionary. He substituted my filth for his righteousness.

This scripture is a good one...it popped into my mind as I was reading your post. I've been having a hard time finding joy lately too.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perserverance. Perserverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything" James 1:2-4

My friend Stephanie reminded me of that today. And that reminded me of the passage from Romans 5--We rejoice in our sufferings knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us (verses 3-5)

Amen?

Amen!
