what imdb says: A lovelorn screenwriter turns to his less talented twin brother for help when his efforts to adapt a non-fiction book go nowhere.
- Yeah, that's right. Another Meryl movie. But screw that, it was like 50% off at borders and I heard it was good and I wanted to see it because it's a movie with punctuation in its title and generally those movies have style. AND I wasn't disappointed.
- It was really, really weird besides the whole being good parts. It's basically about an author writing a story about he can't finish a story about this book that Meryl's character wrote. But as the movie goes along it follows the plot of the failing story. SO STRANGE. Very metafictional.
- Orchids play a large part in the movie, the book that's getting adapted is about a guy that Meryl wrote about who searches for orchids and then gets high off of some of them... but anyway. orchids are beautiful -- I almost bought one the other day at Wal-Mart but I hear that they don't travel well and I'm moving out of this hole in a week anyway.... sorry, I'm off topic.
- Meryl gets high in this movie! HIGH. it's hilarious!
- Anyway, Nicholas cage plays two twin brothers, and that alone provides enough weirdness to the whole story line. There's also a lot of fantasy sequences... things that happen in the head of the adapter (Cage) that don't actually happen in real life. Strange movie, but good movie.
- Also I saw this movie over spring break, and it's been a while so I can't really remember a lot about it, I do remember that it was good though :)
up next: a series of unfortunate events, ghosts of girlfriends past, slumdog millionaire, p.s. i love you, i'm not there
