I accept chaos. I don't know whether it accepts me.

what imdb says: Ruminations on the life of Bob Dylan, where six characters embody a different aspect of the musician's life and work.

I've decided, while watching that craziness on my TV screen, that I need to write out the thoughts on this movie now, and format later, as it's going.
  1. What the hell is this movie? It's confusing and disjointed and, I mean, it's beautiful -- the cinematography -- but it makes absolutely no sense. granted, I'm not really paying any attention to it, but I had been for a while there, and I still couldn't follow it.
  2. I did go into it thinking it was about dylan... it's not. It's about these six people as embodiments of parts of his career... but what does that even mean? I suppose it's more enjoyable for people who know about the life of the musician, but I don't. Ergo, problem one has no solution.
  3. problem two is the fact that these six characters have no cohesion and are skipped between with very quick succession. It's got as many stories as Love Actually, but way less real information and doesn't help you get through it.
  4. Richard Gere? Why? Your whole section makes me sad and confused.
  5. the music is lovely, it has been purchased through itunes. thank you coinstar for allowing me to pick itunes gift card as an option for turning my piggy bank into monies. bob dylan popped up in my music class this semester and i really enjoyed it then, and i really still enjoy it now. all the covers are beautiful and all the artists are awesome. good call, movie soundtrack!
  6. FINALLY. even though the movie isn't done yet... I can see why Cate Blanchett was nominated for an Oscar for her part. She's crazy good. Also, the movie is beaaautiful. It's really artistically filmed and has great color and contrast and the black and white sections are very distinct. Also, it's got a lot more famous people that I thought going into it. Julianne Moore shows up. Weeeeird.

I'll probably have to give this a more attentioned second viewing, because honestly I've had my computer open and talking to people fore the last hour at least. I was trying to figure out what was going on at first, but then gave up.

coming up: a series of unfortunate events, ghosts of girlfriends past, slumdog millionaire, p.s. i love you, wall•e, up
