the time traveler's wifecast: rachel mcadams, eric bana,
what imdb says: A romantic drama about a Chicago librarian with a gene that causes him to involuntarily time travel, and the complications it creates for his marriage
- So I read this book, and once again... the book was way better. Honestly, I knew they had to leave a lot of stuff out to make it a fairly normal lengthed movie, but I still missed the parts they left out. The only movie I've actually liked more than the book that it was based on is The Hours. That movie was brilliant. But then again, I read the book afterwards, so that could be a reason. I wish I could research this phenomenon.
- Rachel McAdams is God's gift to this Earth. She was amazing as Clare. Honestly as soon as I found out she was playing her and read the book I could picture it all in my head. I love good casting. Oh, Eric Bana was pretty good too I guess. (but this is mostly because he has a spectacular ass... that you see. a lot.)
- Oh! And little McAdams was tremendous. She was SO ADORABLE. Perfect.
- The score was magical. I am a sucker for a good score and I may or may not buy this one very shortly.
- I really recommend reading the book before seeing the movie. It's really helpful and a lot of people were really confused walking out of the theater. This is because books are better than movies. And because the book helps with how wibbley wobbley time is. Because it isn't linear... it's more of a ball of wibbley wobbley, timey wimey... stuff. :)
- The cinematography was really excellent. The colors and the angles and all this crazy stuff that I really have nothing technical to comment on but can tell that it was really gorgeous. It was really gorgeous.
- A lot of the stuff that they left out were my favorite bits of the movie, and the rest of it was rushed in some places where I wanted more, but overall they kept the story in tact and didn't change anything major. So if you've read the book it won't be too disappointing. As far as adaptations go, this was a good one.
- I explained to someone today about how I want to go forward in time and check out how my life is going, just to make sure that I'm happy, and then leave. But now I'm not so sure that's a good idea. It pretty much messes with your head. Time travel would still be cool though. I need a Doctor, is all I'm saying... preferably the tenth incarnation but I wouldn't say no to eleven.
- I want to read the book again. I have no time but I want to read it again... I'll let you know how that goes. :)
