Well, I have been denied by the UW School of Social Work master's program I applied for. Bummer. Truly disappointed. It is funny, I hang on to this rather naive belief that if you want something really bad and try really hard, it will happen. I know how the work-hard-want-something letdown feels.

But I don't doubt that you can be successful in social work.

They're totally stupid not to take you.

And graduate applications are a horror to fill out, so it sucks that yours didn't get you in.

It might have been due to your *still developing* experience-- but more realistically, it was probably something obnoxious, like there were only 5 spaces available in the program (and 1000 applicants), or the departmental admissions committee didn't like the way your name was spelled, or that you like ABC, but the person who reviewed your application personally prefers 123, or that someone else in the admissions process was simply having a bad day. That's kind of how a former professor explained it to me (and she reviews grad app's for her department).

on the up-side, you have a little extra time to chill before a giant, stress-filled 2-year commitment. . .

Thank you for the info. That does make me feel better, although I doubt I will apply to this same program again. There is just so little point in getting a master's in social work. But I do appreciate your support!
