Yesterday, was my first day of work here. The volume of students I meet with is incredible. I saw 20 students for every one I would meet in Latin America. There are so many students I can't even address them all individually at my fair table. I have to do a mini-presentation every two minutes and then answer like one personal question. Don't blame yourself for missing things, until you are caught up on the jet lag. I mean, dude, you wouldn't have enjoyed Bull Temple (I don't know what that is) if you were asleep there!

I'd imagine the poverty is a bit like (not in scope, but in shock) when people come to NYC for the first time and aren't used to seeing people begging. You get used to it in one way or another, whether your strategy is to ignore it all the time, give in sometimes, or to give money to anyone who asks. I'll be really interested to see how this pans out with you...

after you see it for so long you become immune to it. you can do a few different things. 1. accept it for what it is and move on, 2. try to help out the people begging either individually, as a group, or by finding a foundation to help feed and provide shelter to beggers and homeless (not sure if they have these in India but i dont see why not) or 3. you can feel bad and become emotional and upset over it all.

i usually go with 1 and/or 2. i guess i have to with where i work and the things that i see on a daily basis.

love you!
