work update

I have started my new job this week full time i.e. handover weeks finished.

It is so good to be back working directly for my organisation rather than in partnership as I had been, soon after I got there a senior person in the other organisation said that they would be "getting one of their own in " and told this to so many people it got back to the team I was managing. This made waiting out my time, still trying to get things done and being professional a real challenge. They already thought I was working there from the other organisation as a "hostile takeover" and had told me to my face I had a political agenda and they didn't trust me. What i found hardest was getting them to do anything with me. They were very good at lots of the most important aspects of the job, but getting anything developed in partnership with them was a no no. Either I did it, or it didn't get done. Waiting months to get my new posting and handing over was a real trial of my strength. I had thought I'd walk out the door, never looking back - but I was surprised at how emotional I was at feeling I wished I had achieved more and hating the fact that I had left things incomplete.

At the place I am working now, someone came in early today with one days notice for a meeting, people are covering work today, tomorrow and ..and ...and someone said to me today "Is there anything useful I can do with the time i've got after finishing the other thing?"

Plus as said elsewhere - I have agood long walk home.

So all good.
