Closed to Cuddy

So. Cuddy was in the Hotel, according to Snape. It was only because the potion that Snape gave House wasn't enough to curb what he wanted that he was back in the bar, otherwise he'd have been bashing on her hotel room door by now, once he found out what room it was. That was probably a very good thing, for Cuddy especially. Even if she knew House ( Read more... )

After her conversation with Wilson, Cuddy had spent most of the day exploring. A visit to the library, and meeting Snape and Ford, had been...interesting, possibly even useful. And it was a way to avoid having to confront House. Contrary to popular opinion, she didn't enjoy fighting with House. Well, except on those rare occasions when she actually got the upper hand. House didn't jump when Cuddy suddenly appeared at his side, but he certainly looked startled. As much as he was now aware that Cuddy was apparently in the Hotel, he hadn't expected her to just appear like that -- and he hadn't expected her to act, upon first meeting, as though she already knew he was here.

She'd deliberately not given House any warning of her presence, hoping the shock would help jolt him out of his funk. But despite some obvious surprise, he didn't look all that shocked to see her. Maybe Wilson had done as he said and warned House about her presence. Or maybe House was simply too deeply mired in his own misery to be shocked about much of anything ( ... )

He looked a little taken off-guard when Cuddy grabbed his wrist, and then scowled as he felt the liquor sloshing over his wrist and hand. He shot Cuddy a dark look -- this was the equivalent of her withholding his medication. This wasn't helping? Her stopping him wasn't helping, as far as House was concerned.

The thing was, there was a part of him that knew just how out of control he was. Hell, he felt out of control. But there was another part of him, the part that was way too dependent on medication, selfishly craving a fix, that wasn't aware of how much of a mess he was. Or he was refusing to acknowledge it -- one or the other ( ... )
