Hey Rubi! I just wanted to tell you that I think the Reserve thing on eBay has changed. I bid on someone's reserve painting one day. The painting started at a penny, and I put in $20. eBay only put my bid at one penny instead of immediately showing it at $20 like it used to! It used to be that if I had bid $20 on a Reserve, it would have put my bid at $20 trying to reach the Reserve price. Now it looks like a second bidder has to show up to actually drive the price up. So even if only one person bids on the painting and they put in $100, I think it will still show their bid as a penny unless someone bids against them to raise the price. I can't guarantee that that is happening, but I think the Reserve works differently now. You might want to see if you can read more about it on eBay to see if it changed. It doesn't make sense now. So it's possible that people have put more money on your auctions than you think, but it's not showing because they haven't hit the Reserve price yet. I hope that makes sense!! I was going nuts when I was
( ... )
that was what happened on a few things i used to bid on. that was why i had to stop bidding on reserves because it would get frustrating because you dont know what the reserve is of course and plus you cant keep bidding against yourself. You would have to make a new id and bid against yourself to do that and well...that gets tricky. i understand the concept to reserve auctions but it makes it hard if you are the one who wants something and cant manage to finangle the price up higher...that is why i just like it if people start at the min. that they are seeking.
Misty's right. One bidder can't raise the price. Another bidder has to bid against them for it to go up and then it will only go up to the winning increment and not the maximum bid they placed. If one bidder does hit the magical reserve though, it should register their bid at the reserve price.
