I said I'd be writing about my take on the ROCOR union with the MP, and I'm working on it as an essay. Its just such a complicated issue, and I have a few takes on it, actually.

For now, check out this article which I tend to agree with. Seems its not difficult to reach this conclusion, and no, I don't think this is "anti-Orthodox propaganda".

I tend to agree, as well, though I do hope that God will do a bit of a "switcheroo" on this and use this to His own ends! He's been known to do such things. :)

You're right, and may God so grant, really!

Putin is the main reason for my anti-Russian mood these days.

However, the restoration of communion between ROCOR and ROC was long due. And no matter how much Putin and his government may interfere with the Church, the present situation simply cannot be compared with the kind of pressure exercised by the bolshevic regime.

Or perhaps Putin is not as bad as the pre-revolution Czars who enforced a Heterodox eccesiology on the Church?

In the end, I think an annointed monarch, even if he is a bad Orthodox Christian, dosnt even compare with an ex-KGB officer, especially if he is a nominal Orthodox Christian!

Let me be clearer and say that, as a Romanian, and from a political standpoint, I can only be anti-Russian, and the fact that Putin is the current Russian president only adds to that.

Why would you necessarily be anti-Russian, because youre Romanian? In theory, anyhow, I think all Orthodox countries should stick together... Definitely all we Orthodox Christians should, no matter our ethnic backgrounds. I happen to love any culture that is Orthodox!

However, and maybe I am just being cynical, but it seems to me that a new form of Communism is on the rise in today's Russia, and Putin has a LOT to do with that!

As you may have noticed in my other post, it's not the Russian culture, but the Russian politics that worry me. Russia has never stopped to be an empire, and a small country at the side of an empire will always be in a vulnerable position, as it has been in the past.

I don't know whether it's a new form of communism. Let's say Russia has never been a free democratic country.

And of course, I love Russian culture and Russian Orthodoxy.

You know, I wasn't really tuning into why people were so up-in-arms over the merger... UNTIL I read that the Patriarch thanked Putin and made a point of calling him an actual Christian. Then I got chills.
I mean, on the other hand, this may cause some people to lose some faith in their heirarchy (hopefully not) but if one is doing the work, it shouldn't affect a person's spiritual development. This is really what really matters anyway.

Are you planning on staying with Metr. Laurus?

I am with Metropolitan Laurus at the moment. What the future ultimately holds, is difficult to say, but I plan on sticking it out.
