had a great christmas with family folks in seattle. geez. one thing i definitely discovered was that surburbia is not for me. even though folks have it good here in the northwest - fresh air, perennial foliage, mild temperatures ... it doesn't quite have the buzz. so it was quite a relief to be able to buy the new york times at the neighbourhood

if it was built in singapore we would make rude comments about it.(and it would be totally impractical so i guess koolhaas wouldn't do it like that here.)
hmm i dunno... too industrial for me. i prefer organic forms like gehry does.
and i guess it would feel different from the inside looking out.
and the continuous ramp demonstrates koolhaas' thoughtful practicality.
(meanwhile our new NLB feels like it was put together by a committee. nice touches here and there but it doesn't really gel and as a whole feels rather impersonally international.)
