christmas in seattle

had a great christmas with family folks in seattle. geez. one thing i definitely discovered was that surburbia is not for me. even though folks have it good here in the northwest - fresh air, perennial foliage, mild temperatures ... it doesn't quite have the buzz. so it was quite a relief to be able to buy the new york times at the neighbourhood ( Read more... )

oo erm.
if it was built in singapore we would make rude comments about it.(and it would be totally impractical so i guess koolhaas wouldn't do it like that here.)
hmm i dunno... too industrial for me. i prefer organic forms like gehry does.
and i guess it would feel different from the inside looking out.
and the continuous ramp demonstrates koolhaas' thoughtful practicality.
(meanwhile our new NLB feels like it was put together by a committee. nice touches here and there but it doesn't really gel and as a whole feels rather impersonally international.)
