ok, this shouldn't be funny, but i just got an email from the Human Rights Campaign urging me to contact my state representative to support the Hate Crimes Bill.

the subject line: Urge Your Rep to Vote Yes on Hate Crimes

dogsitting update: he has pooped twice and i've locked myself out of the house twice, so i guess we're about even.

One time last fall, I locked myself out of 31 Howard while taking out the trash. the front door was locked and the back door locked behind me as i left. So i was locked out and sat freezing on the couch in a pair of moccasin slippers, a t-shirt, and thin pj pants. I shivered under a kitten sheet. I found a pair of matches and paper towels on the porch, so i lit the paper towels on fire for warmth. Peering through the mailslot, I begged Meg and Tyler to open the door for me. Then Sara Collins came home all cheery from work. I had not time to explain as I ran in the house, put on like three layers of close, and sat on the couch under blankets.
