Why is it that some people whom I've friended, tho not nec. both ways, don't show up on the opening page?  Are they supposed too?  Does that page have a name in the manage friends page?

Finding that I'm missing folk I want to follow, even if they don't necessarily want to hear from me.  You know, people  I fic-groupy over

There are a couple of things that you can do to fix this. One, from your inbox on the top right just above the most recent entry go to 'manage notifications' and go down your list of notifications and any body who you want notifications for click the box for those. Then save your changes.

The other thing is that if you are on someone's profile there is the little thumb tack looking thing on the top right which is 'track user' and click on that and it takes you to their individual notifications and you can select there to be notified of new entries.

One thing that you might be doing when you are adding these people to begin with is if you just click on the link you see when hovering the cursor over their icon in a thread of comments and then say 'add friend' it does not give you the option of picking notifications. It is better to go to the top of their journal and click 'add friend' there because then you can pick notifications.
