Some nice escapees there! I like the sound of the Mellilitus Albus...
Teehee.. just envisioned the Bubbafrogs bellyflopping into the water... a cement block IS EXACTLY what they sound like diving! I just dislike their voice intensely... sounds like someone vomiting!
And the white Mullein so unlike its cousin. I rather like the big yella fellas... they can't have get huge. and the furry leaves are delicious to play with.
Have you kayaked out to the Floating Bush... is it a teensy island?
That poor holey decayed tree is truly beautiful.. you can blow it up huge and look INto the pimply bits. Fascinating.
If/when those ghost trees fall down, would they be likely to turn into fossilised wood? get preserved in the peat?
THanks darling... sorry about the bushbasher... ours at least wait until the flowers are over and it's all gone hay-y.
HOT here again today 105 yesterday... a little less today apparently as a storm passed us by but took a bit of the heat out. but tomorrow it will be up in the ton again!
I did take my kayak out to the Lake Bush and I cannot see what's under it... it appears to be growing out of the water but there must be a little spot of land right there for it to be growing on.
And yes, it's possible that when the ghost trees fall down, IF they are covered by enough other stuff and IF the low-oxygen conditions remain and IF they remain there for millions of years without being disturbed or exposed, and ESPECIALLY if the whole area were to be buried in ash or mud or some other catastrophic event that sealed them off even more, they might have a chance to become fossilized.
It's amazing... everything in winter is so cold and isolated and dead, and then it just suddenly comes alive all at once. It's part of living in a place with such drastic seasonal changes.
