THIS IS FOR WRITERS AND EVERYONE IS A WRITER

This is a new community. It is called wordsinthebrain. It is called that because I said so.

This is how it works:

This community is for writers.

Not just people who write and post or publish things regularly. If you write things, you're a writer. This community is for you.

Writing is a skill. It does not require genius, but it does require practice and ( Read more... )

I'mma have to think about it and make sure it's a match for me or if my need for away!space would make it that you'd be nagging me All The Time instead of writing. Is it okay if I drop by maybe in a few weeks when I'm not having a breakdown every other day?

I promise not to nag you. I know there are extenuating circumstances and I'm not going to hassle people if they have a legit reason for not being around.

Joined. Bluegerl and I were talking about the need for writing comms like this when we were together in October. I admit I usually use ushbwri but the more writing comms the better!

I'm not familiar with the one you mentioned, and the link doesn't seem to work for me... but I'm hoping that since I have friends who are writers, they can go out and drag in some new recruits!

That should have been ushobwri so you could try the link - we sometimes have prompts (and they have a prompt bunny hutch at the beginning) but mostly we talk about writing - how and why and how much.

I think this is a wonderful idea, and I wish you every success with it. Encouraging people to write is just great.

It is also lovely to have someone stand up and point out how important feedback is to those of us who are very happy within the LJ community and have no desire to rename our favourite characters and sell them to a wider audience. People say 'comments are love' and it is so true. When the comments stop, so do I.

Unfortunately because I'm paranoid (work and LJ would not mix) I only post in my LJ which I can lock (or in the worst case scenario, delete) at a moment's notice, so I won't join up but if it's a community where I can watch and comment I will be very happy to do that whenever I can.

I'm sure it could be permitted for people to post in their own journal with a fake LJ cut in the comm, but the comm will be open membership and you may not want all of those people to have access. Either way, I would love to have you there to read and comment and encourage the experienced and the budding writers among us!

If you'll accept fake LJ cuts then that's definitely something I'd consider. My fics (long and short) are all posted unlocked for a month or thereabouts, so people could read without having to be on my fic LJ.

Let me think about it - and I'll see how I'm fixed when work quietens down after the January rush!

I promise if I join and find I can't keep up, I'll quietly depart without having to be nagged. :-)

Can I watch without joining? Sorry I don't know much about comms even though I mod several! *blushes*

You are welcome to watch... or even join and lurk. I'll be lenient with people I know. :)

I just don't want it to turn into a whole community of lurkers, so if people I don't know well join and then I never hear from them again, I'll have to nag them a bit.

I put in a request to join. Although, I might just lurk and comment at first, until I get the courage to put something up.

No fear! If nothing else, offer some comments... it's a good way to get to know people!

Hey I thought i'd try pimp this around dw and some of the comms I'm in so I wondered if you would be ok with me making some promo banners? I don't want to step on your toes <3 Also, if you are open to it I don't mind sharing them with the comm so that others could also promote? I know I tend to ignore texty posts pimping things and get caught by images more. :)

That would be absolutely fine with me! I'm not great at making banners and I'm not great at promoting things, either... especially this semester. Next one will be better. But that sounds great, and I appreciate it!
