Spring Nature Post!

Mar 27, 2016 13:50

Not much happening this early in the year, but I still need to get out, if I can... not to see what's already there, but to look at where things WILL be... to watch eagerly for those familiar things to start appearing. I know where they will be now, like trains that always arrive at the same station at a certain time. I wait for the trout lilies ( Read more... )

Thank you! That was a lovely Easter treat. Now we can all look forward with you to new growth. The skunk cabbages are fascinating - we don't have them here. The beavers are interesting, too. Apparently some have been newly settled in Devon and we might have beavers again.

Beavers here have made such a comeback that they are now an annoyance in many places, and trapping them for fur may be legal again.

It is here! Your nature post is here!!!!
After those years, it is like returning to the very familiar grounds: your lovely lake, very serene-looking now, and a real display of the flora and fauna that I know now - only thanks to you. It is like meeting old friends, isn´t it?
I was looking at that skunk cabbage and suddenly I realised that it might have something in common with Arum? What so you think? I can remember when one of my LJ friends posted a photo from the Kew...
Anyway. The beavers can be quite dangerous if they are numerous...wow, they use their big teeth like professional lumberbeavers. Poor trees.
I have always admired horsetails though we have a different kind here. At least it seems to me. I will take a picture for you - our spring has only begun today with higher temperature and some sun.
Well, I would dare to guess that these catkins belong to hazel!:-)
Thank you, I liked it very much!

These pictures are so gorgeous! The one of the lake is especially enchanting. I love the look of leafless trees and nature in transition between seasons. Thank you for sharing these! :)

I love to share my nature posts. Hopefully I'll have time for them this spring and summer, although probably not as many as in the last few years.
