Wonderful! Your spring return to your lake must have been very rewarding for you! It was like the lake wanted to make a kind of a practical joke on you, pretending the trillium was not there...and then...ohhhh, these dark red blossoms!!!Yes, your timing was flawless and so was/are your instincts because you know how to share with nature and nature shares with you. I liked how you met that man, yes, I am sure he will rememeber trillium forever, he sounded excited! Trillium doesn´t grow here at all and neither does your Dutchman´s Breeches! I can see why this name, the blossoms really look like those old white trousers.:-) THank you very much for your lovely post!
That was absolutely gorgeous! I'm so glad to hear your lake and creek and everything are waking up. Your photos are, as usual, wonderful. I bet the jogger not only remembers the flowers but remembers the name of them!
We went for a walk/picnic yesterday. It is sunny but still cold here. In the sheltered areas there are plenty of dandelions, a few daisies, and quite a lot of forget-me-nots. The daffodils are still in flower.
A lot of our garden is 'wild garden' to attract bees, and there are some pretty yellow dead nettles which have invaded and spread. The small violets are everywhere.
There are queen wasps looking for nesting sites but I wish they wouldn't choose our house. I had to evict one from the bathroom.
I never really feel as if it is spring in UK till the May blossom is out. There are leaves but no flower buds yet. In Portugal it's the mimosa blossom that tells me the world has woken up but I think we'll be too late for that this year.
