I know we're running out of places to host images, but that's a new way to rip off loyal users.
I've pretty much given up, because either the prices are WAY up there, or linking is against their rules (a lot of them want you to just use them as photo albums forcing people to go their sites).
Flickr is *currently* not being too evil, but I think that's because the new owner, Verizon, hasn't got around to doing anything with it.
Also *at the moment* I can still use my LiveJournal photo scrapbook, but the way they're going I have no confidence in them.
Buzzfeed recommends IMGUR as an alternative, but I'm betting they didn't read the TOS. Theoretically IMGUR allows hotlinking, but NOT for commercial purposes, which I think means you couldn't use it for pics on Ebay or Amazon or Etsy or... basically, any place that isn't a purely personal, just look at the pics, and don't do anything with them.

Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network."

But my personal journal? That just makes me want to cry. So many years of posts are going to be gone because I won't pay the ransom.
It's totally heartbreaking.
