I have an opposite strategy for Harry Potter. I watch the movies. Then read the books. Books are almost always better than the movies. So I feel like if I see the movie first, when I read the book, it's like getting a special surprise.

I saw the first 3 movies before I read the books, then started and finished them all right before the 5th movie came out. if the movies didn't take so long to come out, I probably would've done the same thing. Especially since I was SO disappointed with the Goblet of Fire movie once I finally saw it. It was my favorite book!
