Generally not. Most games like that are abandonware - there's no one to lay legal claim to them anymore, so permission isn't even required. they're essentially public domain.
Yeah, I agree with xail... the EGA games are so old that they're probably abandonware by now. And I doubt Sierra/VU would ever give up the rights to the games, as long as they still have a chance of milking them for all they're worth. How else would you explain recent games like *cringe* Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust?
I think I've moved past adventure games enough that this really doesn't bother me that much. In fact, I think it's nice to know that there are still people who enjoy the games enough to invest their time and work into them like this.
