If anything requires an actual post, this would seem to be it. I joined the crowds in Silver Spring on Friday to celebrate and pick up my book. I was expecting to have to wait forever so I was thrilled to be on my way home, book in hand, by 12:45 ( Read more... )

I think Ron's desertion was supposed to 1) make us realise that The Locket Is Evil, and 2) echo back to Book 4 when he abandoned Harry over jealousy and misunderstanding, and 3) give him an opportunity to really grow at the pond.

What I don't get the point of is Grawp. Heh.

Oh, yeah, after she made such a big deal about the giants I really expected something more from all of them. Then again, this way they're pretty easy to ignore. *g*

Agreed -- ultimately, this was satisfying, yet open enough to keep fandom going. Yay!

Still, it's hard to imagine the world without Hedwig or Dobby or Moody or Colin or Fred or Snape.

Seriously. Hedwig and Fred have been there from the start, Moody and Colin had some wonderful parts, Dobby was so important in more than one book, and Snape....how can you have Harry without Snape? And I don't just mean in the shippy way, I mean it's always been the two of them facing off, even with LV lurking in the background. Sigh.

Yeah, it is all very sad - I always feel like death is so wasteful. Of course, the beauty of fandom and fanfiction is that we can ignore and/or fix just about anything, so death is never really permanent!

I was feeling sort of guilty this morning, thinking that this is the first time I'm "denying" canon, but apparently everyone else is, too, so now I feel better! :-D Yay for fandom and fanfic!
