I really do need a new job. today did not go well at all. First of all there was a football game between the air force and the UW. i could not find parking at all to go to work. So, running short on time i decided to go park in a pay lot. Turns out it was 5 bucks to park there. I had no choice so i had to fork over 5 bucks. unfortunately i did not ( Read more... )

Weird. Neither of those comments make much sense. Honestly...that's not exactly "harassment". The second one sounded more curious, though it was a weird question. The first was a lame offhand comment, which was rude if it was meant towards you, but I'm not sure it constitutes harassment. I'm so sad that you had these encounters! Stereotypes and harassment in general are on the decline, if you compare them to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years ago. People will always continue with these stereotypes because it's how they were brought up. And they'll pass it on. It's hard to conquer. And yeah...while Seattle is more "liberal" and "diverse" than other places, there are also a large amount of closed minded people. It sucks.

To me it was harassment. Verbally it was aimed at me and made me feel uncomfotable at that moment. The comment was made on the grounds of malicious intent to agitate the lady and myself. That was a verbal attack.

Ooh! you should change the title of your entry to "Are all Husky/Airforce(just to be fair) football fans Bigots?". That would make it a lot more true. Haha.

That sucks! I'm so sorry...fuckers like that need to keep their mouths shut. I'm sorry that you had such a crap day, but at least we know that it's just small amount of pitiful people who still think like that. Way to go with the "I'm American" comment!

great response with the "I'm American" thing. And i totally feel the same way you do after placing myself in your shoes and having those words said towards me. I think I can agree because I am asian! but knowing me I would have been extremely rude back and given those ppl a piece of my mind.... probably not very nicely either.

Sounds like a really shitty day. I am sorry. Assholes don't actually deserve to speak. It's the whole "if you don't have anything nice to say..." deal only easier to enforce. But we must do something before I leave! For Amy! I never replied to what you wrote before, but I definitely want to hang out. We should make plans for sure.
