Yes, they are a multi functional boot. Perfect for folding over for pirtatey times, or leaving up for other times. I can be, like, mod, or a super bad-ass Jedi, or whatever else I please. Because clothing=costume. On a daily basis.
I got on ebay. Just search black boots. These aren't vintage--in fact, I think they're the same ones as on dresslikeapirate.com--but more over the knee ones seem to come up on the vintage search, because of the 80's. Most 80's over the knee ones are suede, though, so it depends on what you want.
They were $40, and then there was shipping, so 52 all told.
Which isn't, like, way affordable, but it's less than new, so I'm happy.
Eventually I think I'll want some over the knee or foldy-over boots, but first I really just want some basic knee-highs.
Also I think at some point I want some midcalves, if I can find some that stop at the right part not to make my calves look massive, because then I can wear them with knee-high socks and look super cute.
Well, actually, I've never tried on over the knee boots before, so I can't say if I look silly in them. I got them on ebay, and I've had pretty good luck shoe shopping on ebay, so I don't plan on size being a problem. But they might very well look silly on me. I'm average height (1.65 meters), I think an inch over it for an American woman (average height of an American woman is like 1.6 meters), actually, but I'm by no means tall, and I have teh muscles on my legs, so they might not fit and they might look silly. I'm planning on them not looking silly, though.
I'm planning on them looking awesome. We'll see how it goes.
I'm a little smaller than you, at 1,60 meters. I guess it depends on the actual boots, how they're cut and everything. At the end of the day, if you feel comfortable in them and like them, they WILL look great. :)
I've never bought clothes or shoes online. I prefer trying them on. Not necessarily because of the size issue, but because I can never be sure that something I think is lovely on a pic I will also think lovely on me. ;)
