Genre: Angst, comfort,
Notes: I've been working on this for awhile now, and finally got enough done so finish a first part. Eventually something more interesting will happen and I'll get less wordy, I swear! >< (PS note: This is the first fic I started to write, even if it's the 3rd I've posted).
The first few days that Kyuhyun spent in Italy were some of the best days he’d had in a very, very long time. It was such a needed and well deserved vacation that he couldn’t help but enjoy himself. His favorite thing about it too was that he could go around without his hyungs and get by with just a few English words here and there. Considering his pronunciation was perfect since Kyuhyun was never wrong with his pronunciation, it was just the fact that he was Asian that gave him away as a tourist. They never suspected that he couldn’t understand half of what they said to him when he just flashed his famous snarky yet charming smile and nod along before taking whatever he’d requested and walk away. Basically, the evil maknae left a good impression.
But, alas, all good things must come to an end. Part of Kyuhyun was lamenting this as he sat in his hotel room in Venice, waiting for the time that Leeteuk, Eunhyuk, Donghae and Ryeowook’s train would come in. Then again, he knew he could have a lot of fun with those who were coming, so it wasn’t such a loss after all. Eunhyuk and Donghae were always so energetic that they’d probably want to go all around the entire city and see everything they could in just ONE day when they had plenty there, and Ryeowook would tag along and probably quietly take pictures and comment on what things that were from a guide book, while Leeteuk would make sure that everyone was okay, taken care of and basically mothering them all.
However, even if that was the case, Kyuhyun could find his fun in more ways than one. Mostly in the form of chocolate covered espresso beans he’d picked up in Florence. Donghae on a few of those and they’d have fun all afternoon! So after grabbing those and putting them in his pocket, Kyuhyun gathered his last few items into his bag-not purse, despite what other’s have said-and decided to head towards the train station to wait for them.
The walk from the hotel to the train station was a lot of fun for him--probably because it involved using the metro-boat system that was so unique to Venice. By the time he reached the train station, he already had a text message from Ryeowook stating that they’d been there within 30 minutes. Busy himself for 30 minutes? No problem.
First off of the train was none other than Donghae who hurled himself at Kyuhyun with a giant hug.
“Oomf!” Kyuhyun grunted from the hug, glad through because he was able to slip the treat he’d gotten for him at that moment. “Nice to see you too, hyung!”
“Kyuhyun-sshi!” Donghae said as he looked down at what had been pressed into his hand. Nothing was said, just a quizzical look on his face.
“Try them. I got them for you while I was in Florence, hyung.” replied Kyuhyun, whispering so other’s wouldn’t hear.
A nod was given and the small bag ripped open, the chocolates all pouring into his mouth in one go, causing laughter to bubble from Kyuhyun’s lips as he watched and waved to the other band members as they stepped off of the train too.
More greetings and hugs were given, no one really noticing what Kyuhyun had done, except Eunhyuk, who noticed the smell of chocolate coming from Donghae as the latter jumped on him next for a hug.
Once they were all off of the train and back out into the streets of Venice, Kyuhyun suggested to everyone that they stop to get a photo because, ‘A trip’s real charm is the photo taken before the trip starts.’ With a laugh they all agree and Kyuhyun is the one to approach a random person with broken English.
“Excuse me,” He starts with that smile of his, “Could you…” And he lets the sentence drop as he points over to his hyungs and then himself, “Picture…” The word said flawlessly as he held up his camera.
The person that Kyuhyun approached, preferably random, just smiled at him in response before taking in camera so that they could take the picture.
“Thank you.” Kyuhyun added at then before going over to pose with his hyungs.
“Ready?” asked the person with the raised camera and like the idols they were, despite jet lag (for all but one) they posed wonderfully.
After the picture, Kyuhyun went to retrieve his camera and bowed lightly with another perfect English ‘Thank you’ on his lips, as well as yet another smile for the person. The image was shown to Donghae and Ryeowook, who insisted on looking at it before they officially started their trip.
It only took Leeteuk and Eunhyuk an hour to realize what Kyuhyun had done to Donghae, the groping of Eunhyuk from behind at Saint Marco’s Basilica was being enough of a hint because he knew to be more discrete in public when he wasn’t hyped up on sugar and caffeine. His rambunctious behavior was something that took them all more than 5 hours to deal with, finally ending in the man being calm; at least by Donghae’s standards. All the while Kyuhyun found the whole thing completely hysterical despite the hyung’s nagging not to encourage him. Donghae’s excitement was something he could draw from for his own entertainment. Watching Donghae was better than a Five Hour Energy for Kyuhyun; it’s probably part of what prompted him to take that Kanga-Kyu picture! Pure excitement.
After going over nearly all of Venice in a day, just like Kyuhyun predicted (with special thanks to that treat) him and Ryeowook settled into their shared room with a bottle of wine they had picked up that day.
It was over a glass of that wonderful Italian drink that Kyuhyun ruminated on the day’s events. He hadn’t noticed it then since he had been busy laughing at Donghae’s antics, but their leader had been somewhat distant. Sure, Kyu’s guess about EunHae and Wookie had both came true, but Leeteuk’s stereotypical mothering had been rather absent. Had the traveling really been that hard on him?
“Hyung,” Kyuhyun started as he looked over at Ryeowook who was busy sending text messages to Yesung who hadn’t been able to come along on their trip because of his schedule with his musical, “Did you notice how Leeteuk-hyung was acting at all today?” The pair of maknaes had already shared two glasses of the wine between them, so he knew Ryeowook’s words would come easily.
“Hmm? No, not really. Was he acting weird?” The response was genuine, even if he was mentally preoccupied with whatever Yesung had been sending him.
“I thought he was…” muttered the younger as he gently twirled his cup of wine before finishing the glass he had been working on. “Didn’t Teuk-hyung buy wine too?”
“I believe he did.” Ryeowook replied.
“…He doesn’t drink like we do though.”
“No, I don’t think that he does…” Ryeowook wasn’t getting where Kyuhyun was going with this.
“I’m worried about him, hyung.” Kyuhyun stated bluntly, so that even Wookie could understand what he meant.
“Why? Maybe it’s for someone else. I doubt he’s drinking it right now.” said the less than perspective Ryeowook.
All Kyuhyun did at that moment was scoff before getting up to his feet.
“Where are you going?” Wookie asked, finally looking away from his cell phone after he’d just sent that twitter post about having a good night with Kyuhyun.
“To check on hyung-I disagree with you and I’m worried.” the words were spoken as he pulled a hoodie on over his pajamas and grabbed his room key. Kyuhyun was out the door of their room too before Wookie could complain.
Immediately upon reaching Leeteuk’s door, he knew that something had to be wrong. Why? The door was open, somehow stuck on the ‘do not disturb’ sign Teuk had placed on the handle. ‘So much for that,’ Kyuhyun thought as he pushed open the door with a loud knock.
“Hyung..?” He called out to him, being greeted by the sound of the TV as well as music instead. It sounded like it was their music before Kyuhyun joined the group. Muffled by both of those sounds was another noise that he couldn’t make out by the door, so he shut it, making sure it locked this time, before going deeper into the room.
When the sound was revealed to be Teuk crying Kyuhyun rushed over to him immediately.
“Hyung! Hyung, What. What is it, what’s wrong?” He reached out to put a hand on his shoulder, only to see that the orange haired leader had his own hands lying on top of his cell phone, a picture of Kangin and him as the background. Instantly everything made sense, because it’s not like Kyuhyun was slow in the logic department.
“Hyung.” He said again, very carefully lifting Leeteuk up off the surface of the desk he was laying on. “Come on if you’re going to sleep you should do it in the bed.” Never in a million years did he think he’d be the one taking care of their leader.
“Kyuhyun-sshi.” Leeteuk said once he saw him, putting that fake smile on his face as he stumbled, though he was standing still, and rubbed the tears from his cheeks, “When did *hic* you get in here?”
‘Hic?’ He thought before saying aloud, “Are you drunk?”
“Noooo…” Came Teukkie’s reply before that special laughter of his, which gave way a few little sobs then a quiet, “Yes….” before he reached out for Kyuhyun, holding onto him.
His eyes went wide for a moment, catching Leeteuk as he fell on him like that. “Hyung…” he said again, as if it was the only word in his vocabulary at that moment, “How much of that wine did you drink?” the question asked as his eyes searched around the room for empty bottles, spotting a couple.
“Uhm…” Thinking was never the forte of any drunk and Leeteuk was no exception, so after trying for a moment he just said, “Most of them.”
“Aish…” breathed Kyuhyun as he began to pull Leeteuk towards the bed. What a waste of wine, he thought as he laid the older man into the bed. Or tried too-Teuk had some pretty clingy hands.
“Don’t leave me Kyuhyun-sshi…” Leeteuk said in his drunken, depressed and desperate state. “I don’t want to be alone anymore…” That kind of statement was never something Teuk would admit to anyone else, aside from Heechul and that had been something that happened not long after Kangin first left.
Kyuhyun sighed, then nodded, slipping into the bed next to Leeteuk, who kept alternating between sniffling, hiccupping and sobbing quietly. That is until he fully-as fully as a drunk person could-realized that Kyuhyun was still there in the room next to him.
Shock was on his face first as he looked at Kyuhyun plaid pajama covered leg, before up to the black t-shirt of his stomach and then up to Kyuhyun’s face. The slow trip Leeteuk’s eyes took kind of creeped Kyuhyun out, so he just looked back at the drunken leader like he was a leper or something.
“You’re such a *hic*… a nice maknae, Kyuhyun-sshi… for staying here with me… so I’m not alone anymore…” Leeteuk began to sit up slowly as he said that, kneeling on the bed next to him as he wiped more tears from his eyes though they were falling so rapidly that they were hard to stop.
“With the way you asked, it was kind of hard to say no…” Retorted said nice maknae, trying to shrink back into the headboard as Leeteuk suddenly reached out for him, moving to straddle the younger man’s lap.
“Heechulie-ah was wrong.” Teuk said, his hands on either side of Kyuhyun’s face, “you’re not heartless at all…” And he leaned forward then and planted his lips right onto Kyuhyun’s.
Sirens and warning bells went off in Kyuhyun’s head immediately, something along the lines of ‘WOAH WHAT THE HECK?!’ and he very gently pushed Leeteuk away, breaking the kiss with his eyes as wide as he could manage.
“W-…what… Kyuhyun-sshi, please.” There was a desperate whimper in Leeteuk’s voice as he reached forward to kiss him again, arms going tight around his neck as he succeeded in surprising Kyuhyun with his strength, getting his tongue into the maknae’s mouth before Kyuhyun pushed him away again.
Fresh tears came down Leeteuk’s face then as he felt the rejection of the youngest member hitting him, even as Kyuhyun licked his lips after that kiss; Teuk had a skilled tongue, what could he say?
“Hyung, don’t… Don’t cry, I.” Choose your words carefully my friend, because the wrong ones could be deadly, “It’s not that I don’t want to kiss you. I would just rather kiss a sober you.” What a line Kyuhyun, did you get that from a book?
That line, which was what it really was, was responded to first by a hiccup and then more tears as they sprang up into Leeteuk’s eyes. A sloppy hand pet his cheek before Leeteuk fell forward onto Kyuhyun’s chest, causing the younger to grunt. Especially with that Teuk’s arms snaked around him and he settled himself in close.
“Are you going to sleep like this hyung…?” Kyuhyun asked, tentatively rubbing his leader’s back. The response: A messy nod as he felt his t-shirt getting wet… and it was a new Romeo and Juliette one he’d got in Verona.
“All right hyung…. Sleep well then.” said Kyuhyun as he slide down a bit on that headboard, reaching over to the TV remote to turn it off.
“You won’t leave right..?” he heard the leader mumble into his chest as he was pulled down more onto the bed by the older man who was quickly curling himself up into a ball with Kyuhyun.
“No, I won’t leave.” That orange head of hair was given a gentle pet before Kyuhyun felt his own head hit the pillow. Leeteuk mumbled something after that, but Kyuhyun couldn’t make it out. Though he was pretty sure he heard ‘good’ and ‘punishment if you didn’t’ in there, but he really wasn’t sure… And glad for it too.
When morning rolled around, Leeteuk had sobered up considerably-to the point of a nice, raging hang over actually that pounded at his head as he moved to sit up in his bed, feeling something warm and squishy under his hand. Something warm, squishy and saying ‘ow’. And happened to be Kyuhyun’s face?
“Kyuhyun-sshi! What are you doing in my room!?” Leeteuk exclaimed louder than he should have and immediately regretted it, moving both of his hands to cover his face. Luckily for Leeteuk, he didn’t realize that they had been sleeping just millimeters apart, face to face; that probably would have got an even bigger scream out of the leader.
“I /was/ sleeping until I got a face full of your hand, hyung.” retorted the maknae who was finally able to sit up himself. Though it only lasted for a few seconds before he laid back down into the bed with a hard yawn. It was way too early to be awake.
“Tha-..t. .. gr.” Insolent maknae making hung-over leader’s head hurt worse, “That’s not what I mean Kyuhyun-sshi. Yah! Don’t go back to sleep!”
“But it’s early.” Kyuhyun was already curling back up into a ball in the bed.
“Yah! Stop that, get up! Go back to your own room!” Leeteuk all but kicked the maknae out of his bed, falling to the floor with a thud. As Kyuhyun was sitting up from the floor, Leeteuk noticed his own distinct lack of pants and yelped, covering himself with the blanket, his face redder than Heechul’s hair used to be.
“WHERE ARE MY PANTS?” He shouted, covering his red face, unable to believe what he was starting to piece together what happened last night-or rather what Leeteuk perceived to be what happened.
Instead of verbally answering, Kyuhyun just shrugged, getting up to his feet and rubbing his head while checking his pockets for his room key.
Great. That was a lot of help, “WHY…. Aren’t I wearing pants, Kyuhyun-sshi?”
“Where don’t you think you’re wearing pants, Leeteuk-hyung?” retorted the cranky maknae, feeling his hands around on the bed for the card. His eyes hurt-sleeping with contacts in was always a bad idea and now he wanted to go back to his room.
Only one reason for his lack of pants went through Leeteuk’s head and he curled up on the bed, choking on new, fresh tears mumbling something about ‘did we really’.
That’s when Kyuhyun realized what Leeteuk was thinking. His hyung thought that they had slept together. Sure, Teukkie had kissed him but nothing else. Leeteuk had taken off his own pants while they were sleeping because he had been uncomfortable or something. Kyuhyun didn’t know, because he hadn’t been very awake at that moment when it happened.
So the maknae known as Kyuhyun had two choices then: Tell him the truth. Or let his leader continue to think that they’d romped in bed. Since the latter sounded like much more fun and far more entertaining than the former, he opted for that one.
“Don’t stress so much about it hyung.” Kyuhyun got back onto the bed, kneeling next to him. “Okay?” And he reached out a hand for Leeteuk, who flinched away at first. “Ouch, come on. That hurts my pride.” He teased, “I won’t hurt you or anything.”
“Why … Kyuhyun-sshi.” His face was in his knees, ears red as Leeteuk couldn’t even bring himself to look at his maknae anymore.
“Why what?”
“Why did we do it?”
Oh. Good question. “You were really drunk…” Kyu reasoned at first, “And kind of threw yourself at me.” he shifted so that he was sitting on the bed, rubbing his sore eyes. “And you’re a really good kisser, hyung.” That was said with a big grin, earning him a smack from Leeteuk.
“Yah!” the shout responded too with just laughter. But Leeteuk’s attitude, after the anger subsided, remained sullen and he sat back in the bed, hugging his legs once more.
“I … don’t remember.” He confessed, as if it was the worse sin in the world; probably because to him it was. Leeteuk was still in love with Kangin, even though the two had broken up when Kangin went into the military. It had been a mutual agreement, but it still left the older of the two completely heartbroken. He had sworn to himself that he would stay pure for Kangin upon his return, but he’d already broken that promise once… and now twice-and with the youngest member no less!
After that was said, the room was left in an awkward silence which Kyuhyun didn’t particularly like, so he got up off of the bed then.
“It’s all right that you don’t remember hyung. It’s probably better that way anyway-but I remember.” It was said with just a tiny little smirk, “I remember everything.”
Kyuhyun didn’t wait for a reply after that; he just left the room, making sure to shut it afterward.
Leeteuk however rolled onto his side, holding onto himself. Had he really slept with the maknae of his group!? Part of him just didn’t believe it, despite not remembering and Kyu’s words that it was true. Had he really been that drunk that he’d stoop so low as to seduce Kyuhyun? Maybe Kyuhyun liked him and had just stayed quiet about it up until now… Now, that couldn’t be right… Kyuhyun was with Sungmin-or was it Zhou Mi? Maybe it was all just fan service. Leeteuk had no idea and doing all of that thinking with his hangover was making his headache WORSE. So he decided to let sleeping dogs lie and get up to shower.
Back in his own room, Kyuhyun’s early arrival woke up Ryeowook who reached out to grab his leg.
“Were you right?” Wookie asked his voice still rather groggy from sleep.
At first Kyuhyun just smiled, then he patted Ryeowook’s hand and detached it from his pajama bottoms.
“I was right.” He said before going to the bathroom to deal with his aching eyes.
A/N: It's bad isn't it? Too wordy? I know I need to work on it... But I wasn't allowed to write anything more until [at least part of] this was posted.
