State of the Hoo-Hah

After lots of logistics problems, phone calls, phone tag, and other malarkey, I made it to the gyno's office.  Filled out the paperwork, made exhausted small talk, then talked about the lump on my vulva before Dr. Morris did a physical examination. I didn't need a Pap this year, but next year I will. I also need to have a mammogram at some point...

I have, and am recovering from, a Bartholin's gland abscess. There are a pair of glands that may help lubricate the area. Sometimes they swell painlessly, before calming down. I've experienced that. Unfortunately, they sometimes clog, which happened in my case. The good news is that the opening's clear again, so the blood/pus/mucus stuff is leaving the area. I need to keep on with the sitz baths and make sure there's progress towards the lump shrinking. If there's any reversal, I have to head back to the doctor's office and have a catheter put in for drainage. I don't need antibiotics, since there's been no rupture. The bursting sensation was the gland opening and ejecting stuff. As I waited for the bus. There was a radius of space around me, along with quiet "we don't sense her" feelings coming my way. Lots of ew.

I'm able to sit almost normally, which is good.

The best part of today was coming home to my new Slanket. The Hub got me my very own fuzzy blanket with sleeves. There's a pocket for my feet, so I can tuck them into warmth, and a pocket on the front of the thing at tummy level. It's very comfy, and the space heater doesn't need to be turned on very high to make me toasty snug. So, that's been nice enough to go on my list of Good Things. While I'm glad to be recovering from the horrid lump of gross ick, I can't quite bring myself to count this as today's Good Thing.

grossness, health
