finally! Sometimes, I hate computers...
Well, I am finally back online in my apartment. Problems abounded. First, defective modem, second: modem screwed my computer in a non-enjoyable manner. 3.5 hours of on phone time with various "help" peoples and the final answer is this..... reinstall windows . That was not a happy occurence . But, finally, I have managed to get everything back
