Seriously, I love my Mac. And I don't even have all the spiffy widgets and whatnot that you got since I haven't upgraded to the latest version. But I've had my Mac Mini for almost two years now, and running it more or less constantly, and ... just cannot complain. Beautiful machine.
There is a place in Spring Lake, I think, that's specifically Mom & Pop Apple store, and I think the dude will do service on them. You can find disassembly instructions for just about anything out there, including iPods, and I've serviced my Mini (go ahead, run with it, it's a good setup) once already, to upgrade the memory. So HD replacement might not be as big a deal as you fear. Though I understand putty knives to be indispensible to Mac service.
