I spent kind of a ridiculous amount of time today contemplating a bandom-Avengers AU smush.
Patrick is Ant-Man, a genius gadget guy and scientist!
Greta is the Wasp, an actress and singer who moonlights as a tiny, winged crimefighter!
Pete is Hawkeye, a badboy archer and martial artist!
Bob is the Mighty Thor, son of the god Odin and holder of the mystic hammer Mjolnir!
Travis is Power Man, invulnerable-skinned, superhumanly-strong hero for hire!
Frank is Spider-Man, the hyperactive, motor-mouthed, web-slinger!
Alicia is Spider-Woman (no relation to Spider-Man), spider-powered, venom-blasting, and phermone-secreting!
Mikey and Gerard are Quicksilver, a speedster, and the Scarlet Witch, master of chaos magic. Mikey moves so quickly that he appears not to move at all! Gerard lectures people on the etymology of the word "witch" and the reasons why it shouldn't be used as a gendered term!
Tony Stark is Iron Man, armored flying powerhouse and millionaire funder of the Avengers! [I imprinted way too heavily on Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark to cast anyone else as Iron Man.]
Brian Schechter is Tony Stark's guy Friday (executive secretary & chief Tony wrangler!) (His life, so hard.)
***
I think my favorite casting is still Bob as the MIGHTY THOR. His blonde, flowing lady-locks under that ridiculous Viking helmet!
I was originally going to have Vicky-T as the Wasp, but then I realized that Greta as the Wasp had a lot more potential for humor, as Patrick and Greta snipe at each other. I then contemplated Vicky-T as Spider-Woman, but really, I 'ship Alicia/Mikey too much to pass up the opportunity for them to be paired off. (Yes, it does occasionally strike me as really weird to say that I 'ship people who are actually married in RL.)
And once I had the thought of Mikey and Gerard as Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch... the thought of Gerard lecturing people about "witch" not necessarily being a gendered term is completely hilarious to me. And then Frank points out that Gerard doesn't actually, y'know, have any scarlet in his uniform, and Gerard huffs impatiently and says, "The scarlet is a metaphor!" Frank just gives him the unimpressed face through his Spider-Man mask.
