I'd never even heard of it until a few years ago when I spotted it on the menu at Tastee Diner. When I asked the waitress what it was she looked disgusted and described it as kind of like sausage but softer and with stuff in it that wouldn't even go into sausage.
*blink* Wouldn't even go in sausage? "So you mean basically 'breakfast guts' right?" That pushed my envelope just a touch too far ;)
I could hardly turn it down when offered by the housemate, tho, so I owned up to the challenge. In return, he's going to try haggis when we get a chance to hit the Royal Mile :)

(My dad is from Philly, and he loves Scrapple. He has never been able to get any of the rest of us to eat it. More for him!)
