talking about myself in the 3rd person, or: meta thoughts on my own fic

Moving my HP fic to AO3 has been interesting. Also painful. Sometimes in JFC WHAT WAS I THINKING???? kinds of ways, sometimes in You know, I really loved this universe, and these people kinds of ways.

Good question. I've also switched fandoms but still have a toe in Potter fandom, and I still have an WIP that I work on occasionally. If there is no chance you'll ever finish it, you should indicate this in the notes. Almost everything I've done is finished - I just need to take a couple of days and archive it :)

Good luck!

I've reread nearly everything I wrote in the last year, and I look at the ups and downs with interest. I wrote two 100k fics in another fandom, and I find it quite fun to compare them, as they're like night and day. Partly it's the POV; partly, I think, it's me as a writer just deciding to write whatever the hell I wanted.

And the audience reaction is really intriguing. The first one got uniformly happy reviews; the one where I just wrote what I wanted was extremely mixed. A couple people hated it, actually. But I think it's probably one of my most favorite things I've written. ;)

I agonize over the same WIP issue, actually--I've never added my huge unfinished HP WIP to AO3. I just feel weird about doing so. But then I feel incomplete without it there.
