Because of the Bates Motel bandwagon I jumped on, I felt it was a necessity to go back to the original Hitchcock "scary" movies.
The things I will discuss in this comment.
1.) Psycho 1960
2.) The Birds and the Tippi Hedren Controversy
3.) Anthony Perkins and his tragic life
4.) Recent biographical movies dealing with Hitchcock: "Hitchcock" and "The Girl" <--HBO
5.) Not last but the first thing.. my knowledge of Hitchcock.

If I had to pick my favorites, I'd probably go with Rear Window, North By Northwest, Shadow of a Doubt, The 39 Steps, and maybe Rope (though I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch ( ... )

When I watch Psycho or The Birds it is almost other-worldly. I mean, the way the film stock kind of blurs the picture just enough to make the actors not look completely real. Do you know what I mean? Both Tippi and Janet move and speak in such a... I call is cosmos way. They just don't make movies with that aesthetic anymore. And actually, some of the movies that are older that those don't have that feel ( ... )
