Around 1030 hours I visited a little know ATM in Villa Rica at a United Community Bank. The machine had a problem communicating with the main processing network. The all-knowing great and powerful Roz who had the sole responsibility of pressing a few buttons on a keyboard to bring machines online opened a service call for me to fix her ATM.
So I get there and put my handy dandy line meter on the ATM and confirmed all communication signals were coming from the machine. I then put the same handy dandy line meter on the communication cable coming from the router and confirmed there was no carrier detect nor a signal to the ATM the router or the network was ready for communcating. I called the main processing network and spoke with Barney Fife who stated he couldn't ping the router or establish communications on the machine. Fine. We then called the great and powerful (but oh so inane and retarded) Roz to get her to ping the router and ATM. Damn the luck. The voicemail answered her line therefore left her a message to contact us.
I tested the machine some more confirming there is no issue with the machine and closed out the call.
I received a service call a little while ago indicating the technician never showed up at the ATM and was needed back out there today. It is an impossibility and she would have relized this if she actually checked her fucking voicemail. I don't quite think she listened to it. Additionally, most people in peon positions in the corporate world (I feel) get a power trip when they think they are important and end up making themselves hated for being so fucking retarded. Anyways, I called her up and explained what was wrong.
Her reply: There is no way the router could be the problem because I already reset it.
Me: You did?
Roz: Yes. I just sent it a reset command from here and there is no change.
Me; Did you get anyone at the bank to reboot the router?
Roz: No because that would take all the communication lines down at the bank.
Me: So you aren't really sure if the router reset?
Roz: Oh it reset because I sent it a command.
Me: (Roz...You aren't making sense) If you sent a reset command to the router but it did not come back up how do you know if the reset worked?
Roz: It worked beause I sent it.
*Typical fucking Roz logic*
Me: Have you verified the reset by pinging the router?
Roz: Yes. I can ping the router but not the ATM.
Me: I left the machine online and ready to communicate when I left the location earlier. The ATM was ready to receive and have data terminal ready transmitting to your network meaning once your router came back online then you would be able to communicate with it.
Roz: I don't see how because I reset the router and was able to ping it.
Me: I would agree that is correct unless the router really wasn't reflecting your ping.
Me: Are you able to ping the router now?
Roz: No.
Me: How did the router reflect the ping earlier and not now?
Roz: All I know is that I did it and now I cannot communicate with ATM.
Me: At what time did you ping the machine?
Roz: I did the ping around 8 AM this morning.
Me: Ok. Did you know I was here around 1030 this morning?
Roz: No. I didn't.
Me: Have you listened to our voicemails today?
Roz: Oh did you leave me a voicemail?
Me: Yes while I was on the line with Thomas from the processing network to tell you this information.
Roz: Well, I just need to have you look at the machine again.
Me: So you really aren't sure if the router is working or not?
Roz: *Silence*
Me: I will try to get out to the location later though there is an issue with your alarm as well and may not be until tomorrow until we can service it.
