I have a plan for a new programming language, based on the propensity of code towards poor error and boundary case handling. The language of the now is to be called "Assertion", and it will consist entirely of lambdas and exceptions. It will be only barely procedural in the way that modern software is barely functional. Does it support complex numbers? And could a FFT be coded in ass?

Or for speed, would I need to do the tricky bits in C, and wind up with half-ass signal processing implementations?
