Thought this discussion of meat's place in "normal" people's diets might be of interest to a couple of people on here...

From Pollan's latest book, "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."

Sustainability aside, for health reasons alone it's been clear in the last few decades that the amount of meat and poultry we've been eating has been inappropriate to our changing lifestyle. Large amounts of calories and protein were necessary when the majority of a person's day was hard physical labor. Working a mouse and keyboard for nine hours? Not so much.

Though some of the quotes from "flexitarians" reminded me of Jane on Coupling, "Vegetarianism for me is about saying yes to things, even meat."

Thanks to you two, I went the vegetarian route for lunch. I love Little Thai House's vegetarian options, and never feel like I'm missing out on anything when I skip the meat there.

Hmmm...what sauce/spice was with the eggplant dish? I have eggplant, carrots, and a bunch of other veggies to play with tonight and its easy enough to stop for some tofu. [I need to eat real dinner tonight--totally helps my Saturday am long runs.]

I guess it's a sweet and red-peppery, slightly starchy, sauce. It's not a curry sauce; I do usually go with the red or yellow curry items.
