Book One: Missed Shots
A/N: hmm... as promised. here's an update!
Summary: Destiny is not always specific. Mr. Right can turn up at the most unusual time and place. There’s always a surprise at every corner and for a person who does not believe in happy endings but is willing to give “Love” a chance, destiny has prepared the biggest surprise ever. You just have to keep your mind open to any twist of fate that comes your way.
Eight Shot
It’s just as I remembered it, the hotel, the garden, everything. It’s very nostalgic to be here once again. Dragging my luggage, I looked at my watch, twelve sharp, just in time for lunch.
I took a walk afterwards in the garden, and threaded a familiar way towards the top of a hill where the two trees stood in the middle like lovers destined to be together. I sat under the shade and reminisced the past with a smile.
Snow was beginning to fall softly. I reached out my hand to let snowflakes rest on it. I closed my eyes as I felt the cool soft snow falling on my face. When I opened my eyes, he was already standing in front of me.
“Hi, did you wait long?” he asked.
“Yes, two years in fact.” I smiled, doing my best to contain myself. “I left this place, two years ago, missing a part of me. I came here today to have it back.” I continued. He smiled just like how I remembered it.
“I’m sorry to say you can’t have it back. It belongs to me now.” He said as pulled me closer for a hug. Finally.
“I was afraid you might not come.” He said after a while. “The last time we saw each other, you were crying a lot. I can still remember the look your friends gave me when I took you back to your room, eyes red and all.” We were sitting at the same place two years ago.
“Do you have to remind me of that night? It was embarrassing enough, crying like that.” I said. “I have my doubts too of coming here. It just so happened that I have to come here for my work at this time, so I decided to take this chance.”
At that moment a line crossed my mind, “Know what fate is? Building a bridge of chance for someone you love.” I couldn’t help smiling at the thought. So this is fate, huh?
“Work? What is your job? he asked.
“My friends and I now owns a café. I came here to attend a convention yesterday. We wanted to expand our business, so I’m learning from all the others in the event.”
“I see. So you didn’t come here for me?” I couldn’t tell whether he’s only kidding or he’s really disappointed.
“What? So you think I will be in this same spot at this moment instead of being on my way home, if I didn’t have any special reasons at all? Is that it?”
“What are you suddenly being mad about? I was just asking.”
“I’m not mad. I’m just saying.” even this pattern makes me feel so nostalgic.
“Arraseo, I got it. Sorry. I’m really happy to see you again.”
“So am I. I still can’t believe you would even remember your promise from two years ago much less come to fulfill it.”
“Hey, I don’t make promises I know I can’t fulfill. These two years have been really hard…” he drifted. “Let’s just say that although I want to use my will to forget the memories in my mind, but compared to my mind, my heart remembers you faster.” honestly, before, I thought that hearing words like that would be cheesy but when he said that with all the sincerity, it was really sweet.
“Hmm, that line sounds familiar.”
“What? How can that be familiar? I just thought of it, from the heart.”
“Alright, I believe you. Maybe that’s how I felt too.”
“Really? So you wanted to forget me?”
“What? There you go again. You started it.”
“I’m kidding. I’m kidding.” He was laughing. I didn't realize just how much I missed him 'til today. I think, this will be one of those decisions that I will never regret no matter what happens after.
