about the "Major Bison" reference
His original name (In Japan) was Balrog. The boxer character was named "M. Bison" as a knockoff of "M. Tyson", otherwise known as Mike Tyson.
When the game was released in America, Tyson's people didn't like the fact that their guy had been recreated in a video game without permission, so they changed Balrog and M. Bison's names around.
Tyson couldn't call them on recreating his likeness since he doesn't wear a cape and uniform NOR does he have fists of fire.
So it stuck.

Did you know that Super Mario Bros. 2 is actually a Japanese game titled Doki Doki 2 (i believe thats the name at least...its been a while)? They just switched some character models up and it was set to go. The Japanese thought that the REAL Super Mario Bros. 2 would be too difficult for our feeble American minds, so it was only released in Japan... until the debut of Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES. The "Lost Levels" found in that game are the true sequel to the original Mario Bros. game.
