I tumbled on my friend's book in camp yesterday, and it was titled something like "The Case for a Creator". I read through some of it, about the whole issue of "irreducible complexities" (i.e. If a cell mechanism had only just one part of it taken out, the whole mechanism will cease to function. I think where you're going is much more important than where you came from, since where you came from is in the past and cannot change.
We could debate till the end of time with more and more evidence of either case being true but it still won't help us live our lives
just a thought

if u look at the bible, knowing why we are here and where we are going after we leave this place is extremely essential to guiding us on living life now on earth.
eg. the bible shows us god's plan for mankind on this earth.
christianity is a relationship with god that is practically and relevantly involved in every aspect of our lives, including the past, present and future =)

The prerequisite to your argument is that the bible is true and that we believe in the christian god. But i don't.
That's not to say i don't believe there's a god, i just don't feel the need to give it an identity. I'm perfectly fine with being spiritual with a faceless or nameless god.
i feel that the meaning we give to life ourselves is more relevant and intimate ironically, since i take solace in the mystery.
I feel that having a "god", a specific cultural representation is a very human reaction and impetus. Since i believe that the values of each god of their respective culture share common traits with the ideals of their society, this shows that god is a projection of our innermost desires and fears, and we need a god to fulfill our wants and guard us from our fears.
i may have digressed a little, yea but those are my thoughts.
